Wednesday ( 20 / 01 /2020 ) Bursa Hukum organized an
International Webinar Event on “Enforcement of the International Arbitration
Awards: Perspective from Russia, Honduras, and Indonesia” via Zoom and YouTube
platforms. The event was possible through the support of LBM Lawyers, the
Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran, the Russian Embassy for Republic of
Indonesia, and the Prospera Arbitration Center from Honduras.
The event invited several prominent presenters from
various countries among Irina Strelkovskaya, LL.M. as the junior lawyer at
Tenzor Consulting Group in Russia, Ricardo Gonzalez, LL.M. as the deputy chief
legal officer at Prospera Arbitration Center in Honduras, Dr. Prita Amalia,
S.H., M.H. as the international commercial arbitration lecturer at the Faculty
of Law Universitas Padjadjaran in Indonesia, and Jeffri Santoso, S.H., LL.M.,
CMPM., MCIArb,. as the partner of the LBM Lawyers in Indonesia.
The webinar was held from 12.00 – 15.10 WIB and was
attended by more than 300 registered participants from Indonesia, England, and
Pakistan which consisted of lawyers, arbitrators, legal practitioners,
lecturers and active law students. The event elaborated on the enforcement of
foreign arbitral awards through the perspectives of legal experts and
practitioners in each respective country. The webinar conjunctively facilitated
direct inquiries from legal practitioners and also aided to improve language
skills through interactive listening of the panelists.
Opening remarks were delivered by Dean of the Faculty
of Law Universitas Padjadjaran, Dr. Idris,. S.H., M.A., followed by Sergei
Rossomakhov as the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the
Republic Indonesia and Dholley Dwi Jatmiko Latabulo, S.Sos., MM., M.I.Kom., as
the Brand Communication Director of Bursa Hukum. The main discussion of the event
was led by Naila Amatullah, a legal intern at LBM lawyers who is also an intern
the International Office at the Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran, as a
moderator for the event. The discussion commenced through a brief explanation
in regards to the uses or arbitration as one of the preferred dispute
resolutions in Indonesia.
The presenting speakers from various countries
proceeded to deliver their presentations which elaborated on arbitration laws
in their respective countries along with a comparison to Indonesian laws,
specifically in regards to the enforcement of international arbitrational
awards. Through the elaboration, participants were given insights on the
similarities and differences pursuant to regulations and processes within
different legal systems.
The event concluded after a question and answer
session where participants were able to directly ask questions to the
presenting speakers. Garry Gumelar Pratama, S.H., M.H. and Amarullah Surbakti
were nominated as best participants for their active cooperation during the
event. Souvenirs were handed to all panelists of the event and to the best
participant nominees. To conclude the event, the committee also proceeded with
a group photo session.
